Pandas have six fingers. The sixth finger is like a human thumb. Cool and weird, right?
Pandas are BIG eaters. Every day, they fill their stomachs for up to 12 hours, shifting up to 12 kilograms of bamboo!
The daily diet of panda's consists almost entirely of the leaves, stems and shoots of various bamboo species.
The bamboo though, contains very little nutrional value so pandas must eat it 12-38kg every day to get the energy they need.
Panda's diet is an omnivorous one, but since it belongs to the same category as bears, people sometimes think if they eat meat.
The answer is yes and no. Eating meat is a very little part of their diet, but there are some rare cases of pandas eating another animal.
Not the whole animal, just gnawing on some dead, already eaten animals bones. It is also said that panda's sometimes prey on Chinese bamboo rats.
Giant pandas grow to between 1.2m and 1.5m, and weigh between 75kg and 135kg. Scientists aren’t sure how long pandas live in the wild, but in captivity they live to be around 30 years old.
Female pandas give birth to one or two cubs every two years. Cubs stay with their mothers for 18 months before venturing off on their own!
When pandas are born, the color of their skin is pink and they are just 15cm big.
Unlike most other bears, pandas do not hibernate. When winter approaches, they head lower down their mountain homes to warmer temperatures, where they continue to chomp away on bamboo!
Pandas are considered the National Treasure of China.
